This novella starts confusingly by clearly referring to a paedophile relationship between an Alice and a Lewis Carroll. It then settles into a recounting of the narrator's first sexual encounters on the island of Crete, and these episodes are occasionally very amusing and well related, the best of them being that describing a seance.
